LEISURE: Big thumbs-up for Ilminster Party on the Park

ORGANISERS of the annual Party on the Park event in Ilminster have been told that it has become a key social event in the town’s calendar.

Members of Ilminster Town Council’s open spaces committee gave organisers their blessing for the Party on the Park to be held at the Recreation Ground in Canal Way on Sunday, August 28, 2016, from midday to 8.30pm.

There will be live music, activities and fete-style stalls for all the family to enjoy throughout the day.

Organiser Emma Jane Taylor said: “Over the past three years the event has been very well attended.

“Feedback from the groups who have used the event to raise funds and promote their good work has been positive and we understand that around £10,000 has been raised each year by the various groups.”

Councillors had no hesitation in supporting the event for 2016.

Cllr Roger Swann said the event had become “part and parcel” of Ilminster’s social calendar.
