CLUBS AND SOCIETIES: Ilminster Lions Club backs Parkinson’s UK charity

THE Lions Club of Ilminster and District has thanked everyone who supports their fundraising events which allows it to support charitable organisations.

The latest beneficiary of the Lions Club’s efforts is the Taunton and Mid Somerset branch of the Parkinson’s UK charity.

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition – meaning that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time.

There is currently no cure for Parkinson’s, but there are lots of different treatments, therapies and support available to help people manage the condition.

Parkinson’s UK supports people with the disease, as well as help raise money for better care, treatments and quality of life.

The president of the Ilminster branch of the Lions Club, Alan Rudkin, presented a £3,000 cheque to the chairman of the local branch of Parkinson’s UK, Alan Gould, with his wife Isobel.

Alan said: “The Ilminster Lions would like to thank everyone who helped us to raise this sum for such a worthwhile cause.”
