LEISURE: Get the date in your diary for Party on the Park

PLANNING is already well underway for what is fast becoming one of Ilminster’s top social events of the year – the annual Party on the Park.
This year’s event will take place on Sunday, August 27, 2017, at the recreation ground off Canal Way and organisers are looking forward to another fun-packed day.
A number of last year’s favourite bands will be returning with some new sounds, while Ilminster Majorettes will also be performing.
The organising committee is currently working on plans to increase the number of activities for you to get involved in. Plans are already in place to create a Children’s Activity Area which will include a bouncy castle, other soft play games and creative activities.
If you are an Ilminster community group, have a band, or just want to get involved, please get in touch by emailing ilminsterpop@gmail.com or visit the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ilminsterpop.
Organisers would like to thank Ilminster Town Council, C & D South West Ltd, Dot-The-Eye Ltd, Macs Printing, Mitchams Accountants and Tesco for their continued support and sponsorship of the event.
Ilminster’s Party on the Park was established in 2013 following calls from residents of Ilminster to have an event similar to the one which was organised to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee the previous year.
The aims of the Party on the Park are to bring the community together; enable the local community groups and charities to raise their profile; and get more members and raise money.
The event is free for people to attend and the organising committee looks to raise enough money from sponsorship and commercial pitches to ensure that the event breaks even.
