WINTER Wonderland was the theme for this year’s annual Cottage Flowers fundraising event in aid of Ilminster’s Christmas Lights.
It was held last Wednesday (November 16, 2016) at the Warehouse Theatre in Ilminster and an audience of more than 100 enjoyed the light-hearted banter of Angie Blackwell while appreciating the many festive designs and inspirational ideas which were demonstrated.
In the spotlight for the first time was Jacalyn Arscott, of Cottage Flowers, who brought her own imaginative skills to provide a new interpretation to traditional Christmas floral creations.
The Mayor of Ilminster, Cllr Val Keitch, opened the event and praised the efforts of all those who worked so hard to ensure that Ilminster had the best Christmas lights in the area; while it should also be reported the Mayor won first prize in the raffle!
Angie Blackwell, proprietor of Cottage Flowers, said: “We have a marvellous community here in Ilminster and the support given to events such as this is amazing.
“We hope that the two flower demonstrations organised by Cottage Flowers will raise lots of money towards the cost of providing our Christmas lights.”
A second demonstration is being held at the Warehouse Theatre on Tuesday (November 22, 2016) from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
