LEISURE: Beer and Cider Festival at the Brewers Arms with a Cornish twist

THE award-winning Brewers Arms pub at South Petherton is holding its annual August Bank Holiday Weekend beer and cider festival.
The festival – which this year has a Cornish theme – opened yesterday (Friday, August 26, 2016) lunchtime and included live music last night with Grouvecat.
Today’s (Saturday, August 27, 2016) entertainment includes crab racing at 1.30pm and a Cornish pasty eating competition at 3.30pm.
There will also be live music with the ever-popular Ian Kenna from 9.30pm.
Tomorrow (Sunday, August 28, 2016) will see the festival bar open from 12 noon and there will be more crab racing at 1pm followed by a Yard of Cornish Ale competition at 3.30pm.
More live music will be held tomorrow night from 9.30pm with Powercut.
The festival closes on Monday (August 29, 2016) with music in the courtyard from Pete Schofield at 1pm.
There will be a beach games afternoon with pebble balancing, boat races and crab races.
It will then be a case of “drink the festival bar dry” from 7pm with 50p off any pints remaining.
We have been reliably informed that there are some exceedingly good beers and ciders to be sampled!
