SCHOOL NEWS: Scrapstore arrives at Neroche

THE children of Neroche Primary School near Ilminster have thrown themselves into creative play with the arrival of the school’s very own Scrapstore.
All of the staff at the school in Broadway have taken part in Accredited Play Organisation and Theory training over the past six weeks as Neroche is totally committed to developing this new innovative scheme for the children of the Ilminster area.
Headteacher Connel Boyle said: “In September we opened our brand new First Friends Pre-School on our school site, our school’s Breakfast and After School childcare clubs operate from our Pre-School.
“We were amazed to watch our oldest children in the school den building and playing in the home corner with our youngest children.
“We surveyed our children for how they wanted to improve lunchtime play and almost every child wanted an extension of our Forest School den building and the opportunity to create their own worlds.
“This creative play approach has transformed our lunchtimes. Children are playing so well together, teamwork and communication between the children has been amazing to witness.”
Mr Boyle added: “This creative play approach is giving our children the gift of significant rapid development in their social skills, which they will use throughout their adult lives.
“Every day we are watching incredible creations as the children make their own worlds without any interference from adults!”
