SCHOOL NEWS: Harold the Giraffe at Greenfylde

CHILDREN at Greenfylde First School in Ilminster had a special start to the Spring Term when Harold the Giraffe and his friends from Life Education Wessex came to visit with their mobile classroom.
All pupils aged from two to nine had a chance to visit the mobile classroom during the week and the children took part in lessons linked to Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) with topics ranging from feelings and “my wonderful body” to “meet the brain” and “it’s great to be me.”
A visit from Life Education has now become an annual event at Greenfylde and Claire Oaten, headteacher at Greenfylde, said: “Over the last few years we have seen how much our children gain from having PSHE sessions with Life Education Wessex and their visit is an integral part of our curriculum planning.
“Children look forward to Harold the Giraffe visiting with the mobile classroom and topics discussed help plan learning in PSHE for the rest of the academic year.
“Learning needs to be fun and motivational and the Way Life Education deliver these topics encourages the children to join in both with actions, questions and answers.”
