LEISURE: Cornish Delights – a five-day holiday with South West Coaches

PRIDE of the spectacular Atlantic Coast, Newquay, has a string of golden beaches and a character and warm welcome that is very much part of the Cornish tradition.
Yeovil-based South West Coaches will be running a five-day holiday to Newquay starting on June 4, 2017, and will be staying at the 3 star Esplanade Hotel in Newquay, which is perfectly situated opposite Fistral Beach with outstanding views of the bay.
Some places the tour will be visiting are as follows:
A trip to Padstow, an historic fishing port on the edge of King Arthur's country and renowned today for its pretty quayside.
A full day excursion to the 18th century Poldark Tin Mine and Gardens where people can descend 100 feet through narrow passageways and experience the conditions faced by the miners while it was here that the underground scenes of the 'Poldark' drama were filmed.
A trip to Truro and visit its impressive cathedral.
A South West Coaches spokesman said: “We will have a leisure morning to explore our host resort of Newquay before we go on to visit the National Trust property of Trerice House - an intimate Elizabethan manor and a Cornish gem.
“Another place we visit will be St Ives and on to Marazion - a town that claims to be the oldest town in Britain and was called Ictis by the Romans which goes some way to indicate that the area was a trading post for tin in ancient times.”
The holiday will cost £399 per person and for more details go online to http://www.southwestcoaches.co.uk/tours/cornish-delights/59 .
