COLLEGE NEWS: A-Level results complete an amazing 12 months at Yeovil College

THE celebrations will probably be going on long into the night as students at Yeovil College celebrate the best year in the college’s history with a 100 per cent pass rate in this year’s A-Level exams.
The results were announced earlier today (Thursday, August 18, 2016) and some of the stand-out successes include Erin Lee, 19, from South Korea, who achieved an impressive A* for her Extended Project Qualification, A* in Biology, A* in maths, and A in Chemistry. She will now go on to study Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham.
Caleb Tapper, 18, formally of Preston School, achieved Physics (A*), Chemistry (A) and Maths (A). He now plans to study Physics at the University of Exeter.

Caleb said: “Getting these grades means I can pursue in a career in Engineering and ultimately I want to get my Master’s degree in Physics. Summing up my time at Yeovil College, I’d say it’s been inspirational, motivational and exciting.”
Lydia Pavey, 18, formally of Preston School, achieved Physics (A), Maths (A) and Biology (A).
Lydia has long aspired to go to Surrey University to study Medical Engineering and with these results that dream can now become reality.
In order to build her confidence and help her to believe in herself and make her goal seem attainable, Lydia fast tracked AS and A2 Physics and completed them in just one year in order spur herself on at Surrey University.
Lydia said: “Getting to university was really important to me, so I’m so happy today. My experience at Yeovil College has been friendly, and enjoyable, and it’s really helped my independence.”
Ben Court, 18, formally of Buckler’s Mead Academy, studied Physics (A), Maths (B) and History (B). These grades mean Ben can pursue the career path he wants and work for an Engineering firm in the future. Ben will study Mechanical Engineering at Exeter University.

Holly Harries, 18, formally from Preston School, studied and predicted Sociology (A), Biology (B), and Psychology (B). Holly hopes to take up an apprenticeship with Yeovil District Hospital.
Yeovil College vice principal Nikki Sendell said: “This is a tremendous result, reflective of all the hard work our learners and staff have put in and we’re so proud of everything they’ve achieved.
“We wish all our learners the very best of luck with their next step and these results have given them a fantastic springboard on to whatever they want to do next, whether that’s university, an Apprenticeship or employment."

The vice-principal added: “We know already that many of our learners will go on to a huge variety of universities and courses, and of course, we have our own university centre here, which many will choose on the back of its recent Higher Education Review, judging it best in the region.
“This result rounds off the best year in Yeovil College’s distinguished history, and we can’t wait for the new term now!”
