SCHOOL NEWS: Planting for the future at Greenfylde

GREEN-FINGERED members of the gardening club at Greenfylde First School in Ilminster have been busy spending their prize money from the recent scarecrow competition held in the town.
The children won £20 in the competition - which was held as part of the Ilminster Midsummer Experience festival – by coming second with their Olympic-inspired themed scarecrow.
The pupils chose to buy plants to attract bees and butterflies in their new outdoor gardening classroom and a new spade to ensure they were carefully planted.
PHOTO: The children are pictured with some of the plants they have planted this year from seed including what they hope will be some very impressive sunflowers.
