SCHOOL NEWS: Swanmead’s pride at Aidan’s award

SWANMEAD School headteacher Mark Walker has spoken of his pride at seeing pupil Aidan Upshall receive a prestigious local award in Ilminster.
Ilminster Press reported last month that Aidan, a Year Six pupil, was presented with the town’s Youth Citizen of the Year award by the Mayor of Ilminster, Cllr Rose Neave.
The award – in memory of another former Swanmead pupil Bradley Cullen – was presented to Aidan during a ceremony at Greenfylde First School.
Mr Walker said: “Parents and carers will recall that Aidan raised a staggering amount of money – more than £400 – at a bake sale for Epilepsy Action back in January.
“Aidan was also praised at the council ceremony for the incredible way he has supported his mum and brothers following the sudden loss of his dad.”
And Mr Walker added: “Everyone at Swanmead is hugely proud of Aidan and congratulate him on his well-deserved award.”
