SCHOOL NEWS: Pilgrimage to Wells Cathdedral

YEAR Four pupils at Greenfylde First School in Ilminster have enjoyed the first of their Leavers’ Events ready for the move to middle school in September.
The visit to Wells is very special as it takes the form of a pilgrimage where the children think about their life journey and everything they have achieved so far and where they are going next, knowing the support that is there for them throughout their lives.
The day included a range of activities including a workshop involving mime with the Oddments Theatre Company; craft workshops enjoying decoupage; music workshops where the children are drumming and tours of Wells Cathedral looking at the history of the city and all the travellers who have been there over hundreds of years.
The children also took part in a service at the Cathedral where the school banner was blessed and the children received a candle to take back and share with everyone else at Greenfylde.
The children were accompanied by staff from the school and their church governors including the local vicar, Revd Nigel Done, who found himself getting rather sticky in creating his own decoupage shell which involved gluing coloured paper to it (pictured top).
