SCHOOL NEWS: Congratulations to Holyrood’s A-Level students

STUDENTS at Holyrood Academy in Chard have been celebrating an excellent set of A-Level results which were announced on Thursday (August 17, 2017).
Headteacher Matthew Collins said Holyrood was delighted with its results this year.
“What is particularly pleasing is that a record number of A* grades were achieved with more than a third of all grades being A* to B grades.
“These top grades mean some of our students have met the demanding entrance requirements to study at some of the best universities in the country.
“We also take great pride at Holyrood in providing opportunities for our students so that they develop into well rounded individuals who are well prepared for later life.”
Mr Collins added: “The results were thoroughly deserved by this group of students and are testament to their attitude and hard work over the last two years.
“I would also like to thank the teaching staff for the incredible amount of work they have put in to supporting this group of students.
“We intend to continue to grow the sixth form at Holyrood in the next few years both in terms of the number of students we attract and the number of subjects we can offer and we are very much looking forward to many more successes in the future.”
Individual successes included the following:
Alice Bindon - A*A*A grades plus EPQ grade A* going to Exeter University to read Biological Sciences; Lorena Hall - A*AA going to Bristol University to read Geography; Fraser Lewis - A*ABC grades plus EPQ grade A going to Southampton University to read Mechanical Engineering; Nicholas Liggins - A*AA grades plus EPQ grade A* going to Southampton University to read Civil Engineering; Leila Salter - A*AA grades plus EPQ grade A going to Bath University to read Chemical Engineering; Lauren Winch - A*AA grades going to Edinburgh University to read Fine Art.
