SCHOOL NEWS: Charlotte O’Neill wins performing arts cup at Swanmead

A STUDENT who has shown tremendous commitment to performing arts at Swanmead School in Ilminster has been rewarded for her efforts.

Charlotte O’Neill, who is leaving the area at the end of this term as her family move back to North Yorkshire, was applauded by headteacher Mark Walker and a packed main hall during the school’s annual Celebration of Achievement Evening on Wednesday (July 19, 2017).

Mr Walker said Charlotte had been involved in many performances at the school along with talents shows and concerts.

“She has shown tremendous commitment to performing arts ever since day one of being at Swanmead,” he said.

He said that Charlotte was not the “most confident or the loudest” but loved the challenge of performing arts and had been heavily involved in Swanmead’s recent production of Bugsy Malone.

Charlotte was presented with the Warehouse Theatre Cup for Performing Arts by special guest presenter Adam Hose, a cricketer with Somerset County Cricket Club.

The cup is awarded to the student who has displayed a high level of commitment and involvement within school performing arts.
