SCHOOL NEWS: Fantastic concert hits the right note

IT was standing room only that remained for family and friends at Holyrood Academy when it hosted the annual musical concert from the Chard Area Federation of Schools.
A resoundingly successful evening was held once again on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, as local primaries participated in the concert at Holyrood Academy in Chard.
Music teachers, Andrew Gilham and Jemima Farey, welcomed eight enthusiastic and exceptionally talented primary schools to showcase their musical talents - Ashill, Buckland, Combe, Manor Court, Neroche, Redstart, Tatworth and Winsham.
Mr Gilham marvelled at “the talent and commitment demonstrated by everyone taking part.” Audiences were also treated to some stunning performances by the Holyrood Concert Band and award-winning choir.
The icing on the cake was indeed the finale.
Miss Farey ably conducted the 250 singers in a Grand Finale performance of Love Shine a Light – in fact it was so good, they sang it twice!
Holyrood headteacher Matt Collins remarked on the individuality of all the performances, and how much he valued events like this, “I can honestly say this is one of the highlights of my school calendar!”
