SCHOOL NEWS: Shakespeare’s plays aren’t scary or boring!

CHILDREN at Greenfylde First School in Ilminster have been commemorating the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare.
Pupils from throughout the school have been taking part in fun workshops looking at some of Shakespeare’s most famous plays – Macbeth, The Tempest, Midsummer Night’s Dream and Twelfth Night.
Classes held their own days filled with drama and prop making and enjoyed exploring the stories, characters and plots within the Bard’s work.
It is not the first time the children have explored the work of Shakespeare – regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world’s pre-eminent dramatist.
Sian Sainsbury, drama lead at Greenfylde, said: “Every year the children amaze us with their ability to speak Shakespeare - proof that it isn't scary or boring at all!”
