SCHOOL NEWS: Flying the flag for Midsummer Experience

THE winner of a competition to design a flag to be flown outside the Ilminster Town Council offices during this year’s Midsummer Experience has been announced as Chloe Mattravers of Greenfylde First School.
The competition was run by the town council following discussions with representatives of Wadham, Swanmead and Greenfylde schools and organised in conjunction with the schools.
Over 200 children took part in the competition to design a flag to represent the town council or its activities and the councillor judging panel was looking for designs that looked good when viewed from either side.
Presenting Chloe with her prize gift token a t the school assembly, the Mayor of Ilminster, Cllr Rose Neave, said:“When the judging panel showed me the winning design I thought Wow!
“Chloe’s design is bold and bright with a skater silhouette that should be easily visible when it is hanging outside the town council office. I’m really looking forward to seeing the flag in June.”
