SCHOOL NEWS: Greenfylde pupils welcome Sikh visitors

CHILDREN at Greenfylde First School in Ilminster got more of an insight into the Sikh way of life – thanks to the visit of Balbir Kaur and Gurdial Singh.
The Key Stage Two pupils have been finding out about the life and teaching of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, in religious education lessons and were able to ask Mrs Kaur and Mr Singh about their lives as Sikhs in Britain.
Greenfylde headteacher Claire Oaten said: “As a school we believe it is important that our young people understand the rich diversity of culture and faith that exists across Britain and in the wider world and having visitors who they can ask questions to and hear first-hand about their faith, proved a very valuable experience.”
The Sikh visitors were from a Gurdwara – their place of worship - in Bristol.
