SCHOOL NEWS: Bouncing for outdoors learning

CHILDREN at the Sunny Ile Pre School in Ilminster have taken part in a sponsored bounce – to help raise money for new equipment for their outside area.
The children at the pre school – which is based at Greenfylde First School – took turns to bounce on a mini trampoline and to see how many bounces they could do in a minute.
All 65 children took part in the challenge, which also gave them chance to practice their counting skills as they cheered their friends to achieve high scores.
Cheryl Herrick, the Sunny Ile Pre School leader, said: “The children at this young age learn so much through outdoor learning.
“Children respond more positively and enthusiastically to the various resources available - we are hoping to purchase resources that will capture these young learners interest and imagination.
“This sponsored bounce was enjoyed by all and we would like to thank all the parents, friends and families who have donated towards our total. The sponsored bounce has raised over £680.”
Sunny Ile Pre School is continuing to raise funds for outdoor provision including shade structures to enhance its successful early years’ provision.
