SCHOOL NEWS: Sunny Ile children learn about Fairtrade Fortnight

CHILDREN at the Sunny Ile Pre School – which is part of Greenfylde First School – have taken part in Ilminster’s Fairtrade Fortnight initiative.
The Fairtrade Fortnight is a fun-filled event where campaigners, businesses, schools and places of worship show their support for the farmers and workers who grow our food in developing countries.
The children visited Mikes Greengrocers in Silver Street, Ilminster, where they learnt about Fairtrade tea. They also learnt about Pablo the Banana, a story about how farmers grow bananas and how fairtrade helps them.
Cheryl Herrick, pre-school leader for Sunny Ile Pre School said: “The children have enjoyed a lovely educational experience, learning about Fairtrade and how we can help farmers in developing countries.”
