SCHOOL NEWS: Greenfylde plays host to gym festival

GREENFYLDE First School in Ilminster welcomed children from its local partnership schools to a gymnastics festival.
It was the first-ever gymnastics festival to be organised and held in the school “cluster” in Ilminster and Crewkerne and it was wonderful to see so many staff/parents and children enjoying the opportunity.
The festival was led by coach, Germaine Tuff, who shared her expertise by teaching the children a floor routine and gave them top tips to improve their performance.
Finally, children from each school were encouraged to perform their routine to everyone to celebrate their success!
Greenfylde headteacher Clare Oaten said: “Even in the relatively short amount of time we had, the children made amazing progress with their gymnastics and performance skills.
“It was a great success and inspiring to see so many children involved and working together to improve their gymnastics.
“Our thanks go to Germaine for leading this session and to all the schools who helped support the event.”
