SCHOOL NEWS: African drums rumble on!

THE infant children of Neroche Primary School near Ilminster have spent the past seven weeks exploring all things African as their main topic.
Throughout the term the children enjoyed African Cuisine, learned about key African Folk stories and poems, created traditional African Masks and experimented dying fabrics and creating African Batik patterns.
The big end of the topic was spending the day with a musician, learning how to play and compose music using traditional African Drums.
Tegen, a pupil from Year One at Neroche School which is based at Broadway, said: “The drums were so loud, children in other classes thought there was thunder!”
Neroche deputy headteacher Alison Collins said: “We are so grateful to the over 60 parents and relatives who came to hear the children perform their drumming and share all of their creations for the past term.
“As a school we are so grateful for the huge support our community gives to our school.”
