SCHOOL NEWS: Neroche wins award from the Speaker of the House of Commons

NEROCHE Primary School has just learned that its own children’s School Council has won a National Award from the Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow MP, in the Speakers School Councils “we made a difference” award category.
Over the past year the children of Neroche Primary School at Broadway chose to support Ilminster’s Food Bank as their chosen charity for the school year.
The children collected over 1,000 items for the school’s local Food Bank during the year.
Neroche’s deputy headteacher, Alison Collins, said: “The staff are so proud of the children for their efforts and care for our local community.
"To win this award was quite unexpected and this has been a real boost for our children having their care for our community and charity work recognised by the Houses of Parliament.”
Neroche’s School Council children will soon be considering a new charity for their efforts over the coming year.
Headteacher Connel Boyle said: “If there are any local groups or charities that that would like to be considered by our children for their efforts over the next year could any interested groups please contact the school on 01460-52664 or email us on sch.067@educ.somerset.gov.uk ”
