ILMINSTER AREA NEWS: Award success for the Trading Post Farm Shop

THE Trading Post Farm Shop at Lopenhead near Ilminster was delighted to be awarded the Muddy Stiletto for Best Farm Shop and Deli in Somerset for the sending year running.
Kate and Andy Forbes took over the Trading Post Farm Shop back in November 2017 and after winning the Muddy Award last year they have gone from strength to strength.
In the last 12 months they have not only opened a west country cheese counter and a self-service olives and antipasti station but also an artisan chocolate counter filled with delicious English and Belgian chocolates – along with their most recent addition of giant Chocolate truffles handmade in Somerset.
Kate and Andy are passionate about supporting local suppliers and are constantly adding to their very long list of delicious locally made food and drink and local handcrafted giftware.
At the end of last year they added an organic zero waste refill room to their shop floor – filled with over 150 lines of dried fruits, nuts, seeds, rice, pasta and cereals to make this room resemble a grown up pick ‘n’ mix store!
In the next few weeks Belinda, the self-serve milk dispenser, will be operational and customers will be able to come along, press a button and dispense one litre of fresh, organic, local whole milk in glass bottles saving on masses of plastic waste every year!
Kate and Andy would like to thank everyone who voted for them and encourage people who haven’t visited for a while to pop along to see what they’ve done with the place!
