ILMINSTER NEWS: March edition of Ilminster Press community newspaper is out now!

THE March edition of the Ilminster Press community newspaper is now out and is again packed with local news and photos from around the area.
The paper is available for people to pick-up for free from various outlets in and around the town including the main Tesco store, Tesco Garage, Spar Garage, McColls, Co-op, Ilminster Arts Centre, Cottage Flowers, The Minster, Shrubbery Hotel, Horton Post Office, Monks Yard, Jordans Courtyard, Seavington Shop, Shepton Beauchamp Village Shop and the Trading Post.
It has been an extremely busy month one way or another in Ilminster.
But that is what makes Ilminster and the surrounding area such a special place.
The Ilminster Press was delighted to attend the Annual Community Assembly at Greenfylde First School in Ilminster on March 14 where the Mayor, Cllr Julie Fowler, said the town’s community spirit is something people should be proud of.
Ilminster Press editor Steve Sowden said: “I would certainly echo that sentiment and I hope that spirit comes through the Ilminster Press community newspaper each month and what we report.
“There is so much going on in the town that there is never a dull moment; there are so many active groups and organisations locally that nobody should be bored or say they have “nothing to do” and there is so much going for Ilminster that people should feel very proud to live in such a place. It has got to be one of the most positive and community spirited towns in Somerset.
“Just by taking a look at the two-page feature we have included in this month’s Ilminster Press on Pages 16-17 about the Annual Community Assembly and you will quickly realise that the town is a special place to be and has got some very special people.”
Welcome to the March edition of Ilminster Press and I hope you enjoy reading it – there’s definitely been plenty going on in the area over the past few weeks.
Steve added: “I would like to thank the various outlets who have agreed to take copies of Ilminster Press which can be picked-up for free by people and to James Healey, of JRH Media, for his fantastic help with design and layout.
“A huge thank you once again to all the advertisers in this month’s edition – your support really is appreciated.
“Also special thanks to freelance photographer Christine Jones for all her photos, hard work, enthusiasm and encouragement.”
The next edition of Ilminster Press will be out in mid-April – just before Easter. So please get in touch with any events you would like covered and featured in the paper or send us your news, views and photos to ilminsterpress@gmail.com .
