ILMINSTER NEWS: Public meeting to discuss Persimmon Homes’ plans for Canal Way

A PUBLIC meeting is to be held in Ilminster to allow people to learn more about the plans for a 440-home housing development on land off Canal Way being put forward by Persimmon Homes and Somerset County Council.
The meeting will be chaired by the Mayor, Cllr Val Keitch, and representatives from Persimmon Homes and Somerset County Council will provide information about their planning application and listen to comments raised by the public.
The district and county councillors for Ilminster have also been invited to attend as observers.
The meeting will be on March 28, 2017, starting at 7.30pm at Swanmead School, Ditton Street, Ilminster.
The land is currently owned by Somerset County Council with whom Persimmon Homes have a legal option to purchase and develop the land.
The Mayor of Ilminster said: “There has been a lot of discussion within the town about the planning application and a lot of media attention; this meeting is a chance to find out at first-hand what is being proposed and to make constructive comments direct to the developer and the land owner.”
