ILMINSTER AREA NEWS: Raising funds for Jake’s Wheels at Monks Yard

FUNDRAISING continues on Wednesday (January 25, 2017) to help buy a special off-road wheelchair for local lad Jake Cullen who has the rare Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

The wheelchair is going to cost around £14,000, but it will make a huge difference to Jake and his social life.

On one day each month the popular café at Monks Yard, based at Horton Cross, is dedicated to MY Community Day where the takings are equally shared 50-50 between a local group or charitable organization and the staff.

The idea has been running for over a year and has been a big success and it is all part of Monks Yard’s ethos of wanting to do something for the “community.”

The MY Community Day on Wednesday (January 25, 2017) is in aid of Jake’s Wheels appeal and there will be a raffle going on.

The fundraising work kicked-off last summer when the annual Bradley Cullen Memorial Match was held at Ilminster Town FC’s new headquarters at Britten’s Field.
