ILMINSTER NEWS: Police ask people to check on vulnerable neighbours

POLICE have asked community-spirited people in Ilminster to check on their vulnerable neighbours to make sure of their wellbeing.
The cold weather does bring with it difficulties for people – especially the more elderly in society.
A spokesman for Ilminster Police said: “One of the unfortunate parts of policing is being called to “concerns for welfare” – where people call in saying they have not seen or heard from somebody for a while.
“Tragically it is not always good news when we attend these addresses.
“Please can I ask people to consider their neighbours, especially if they are vulnerable through age, illness or other circumstances.”
The police spokesman added: “It does not take long to check on them and make sure all is well and that they have at least have food and heating.”
The police message was put out at Ilminster Town Council’s meeting last Tuesday (January 17, 2017).
If anyone is worried about the welfare of their neighbours – please call 101.
