YOUTH FOOTBALL: Ilminster lads are on the ball in National Cup

TWO young footballers will be flying the flag for Ilminster on Saturday (November 12, 2016) when they represent a Yeovil & District select team in the national knockout cup competition run by the English Schools’ Football Association.
The Under-13s team has already beaten Poole convincingly in the First Round on October 8, 2016, and go to Portsmouth this weekend hoping to continue their cup run.
Goalkeeper Shay Allen and midfielder Harvey Webber, both of Ilminster, have been performing well in the inter-league competition as well with a win over favourites Bath and then a 4-2 success against Taunton earlier this week.
They play their club football with Ilminster Youth under the watchful eye of coach Andy Dyke.
“The boys are loving the challenge at the top level of school football and are really enjoying the results they have been getting,” he said.
The two lads were selected for a trial for the Yeovil district select team with around 40 other youngsters and were then picked for a final squad of 16.
Harvey was unlucky not to score in the game against Taunton as he hit the post three times, while Shay played a blinder against Poole in the ESFA Boys Under-13 PlayStation Inter Association Trophy.
Good luck to Harvey and Shay and the rest of the Yeovil team on Saturday at Pompey.
