ILMINSTER NEWS: Pupils remember lollipop lady Lyn

CHILDREN in Ilminster have been left deeply saddened at the news of the death of school crossing patrol ‘lollipop lady’ Lyn Trott.
Mrs Trott, 68, died on November 1, 2016, and pupils and staff at Swanmead School in Ilminster have been quietly paying tribute to the lady who ensured they got across the road to and from school safely each day.
Headteacher Mark Walker, speaking in the school's latest newsletter, said: “The children have had time within school to talk about Lyn and many have contributed to our ‘Remembering Mrs Trott’ wall poems, thoughts and messages of condolence.
“Earlier on this week Lyn’s husband, Alf, and daughter Wendy came into school and were really comforted and warmed by seeing the ‘thought wall’.”
Mr Walker added: “The power of support from schools can be really great at these times of sadness and I am forever overcome with the sensitivity and sweetness of our children at Swanmead.”
The funeral service for Mrs Trott will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at Taunton Deane Crematorium at 10.30am.
Donations are being taken for the Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton and Macmillan Cancer Care and these can be made either at the funeral service or sent c/o to B. Gibbs Funeral Service, The Manse, 28 Fore Street, Chard, Somerset TA20 1PT.
