ILMINSTER NEWS: Drew Belobaba is elected to town council

ILMINSTER Town Council is back to its full capacity of councillors following the uncontested election of Drew Belobaba.
Mr Belobaba, of Horton, was the only candidate to come forward for a by-election which had been scheduled for October 6, 2016.
But as Mr Belobaba was the single candidate there will be no need for an election to be held and he will immediately take his place on the council.
The need to find another member for Ilminster Town Council was because a previous by-election earlier this summer only resulted in two candidates coming forward when the authority required three.
Matt James, of Blackdown View, and Ian Mackillop, of Hazelwell Lane, were elected unopposed back in July.
They will now be joined by Mr Belobaba following this latest uncontested by-election.
The requirement to find three new councillors came following the resignations earlier this year of Carol Goodall, Rose Neave and Sophie Storey.
The election of Mr Belobaba brings the number of councillors on the Ilminster council to 14.
