SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: MP opens village defibrillator

YEOVIL MP Marcus Fysh was on hand to officially open a new potentially life-saving amenity in Haselbury Plucknett.
Mr Fysh was invited along on Saturday (August 13, 2016) to enjoy the unveiling of an emergency community defibrillator – which is being housed in a renovated old phone box in North Street outside the village school.
The defibrillator can be used in the event of somebody having a heart attack and could literally mean the difference between life and death.
Mr Fysh said he thoroughly enjoyed visiting Haselbury Plucknett for the opening.
“It was great to see village safety improvements with such style,” he said. “A super friendly village to visit amongst the fabled hamstone villages of South Somerset.”
Mr Fysh was joined at the opening by the chairman of Haselbury Plucknett Parish Council, Cllr Mark Keating, and other parish councillors, along with many members of the village community, and a representative of the Community Heartbeat Trust.
A celebratory cream tea was enjoyed by people following the official opening.
