ILMINSTER NEWS: Chloe’s waving the flag for town council

A PUPIL at Greenfylde First School has been congratulated on designing the flag flown outside the town council offices during the recent Ilminster Midsummer Experience.
Chloe Mattravers was delighted to have her flag design become the winning entry in a competition organised in conjunction with Greenfylde and Swanmead Schools in Ilminster and Wadham School in Crewkerne.
More than 200 children took part in the competition to design a flag to represent Ilminster Town Council or its activities and the councillor judging panel looked for designs that appeared good when viewed from either side.
The Mayor of Ilminster, Cllr Val Keitch, said: “The flag is really bright and colourful so it stands out as you look either way in North Street.
“This is the first time that the town council has flown a special flag during the Midsummer experience event and I think Chloe did a splendid job of designing a flag that is vibrant and colourful – just like our town.”
