SOMERSET NEWS: Sue Mountstevens wins Police and Crime Commissioner election

INDEPENDENT candidate Sue Mountstevens has retained her position as the Police and Crime Commissioner for the Avon and Somerset area.

The result of the 2016 PCC election for Avon and Somerset was declared earlier this evening (Friday, May 6, 2016) by the Police Area Returning Officer, Dr Jo Farrar.

Sue Mountstevens (Independent) was declared the victor after second preference votes were taken into account with a total of 118,547 votes.

Ms Mountstevens has therefore been duly elected as Police and Crime Commissioner for the Avon and Somerset police area. She will take up her position on Thursday, May 12, 2016. Full results for all of the candidates have been published on www.avonpccelection2016.org.uk.

The overall turnout was 26.64% with 325,456 votes cast across the whole of the Avon and Somerset area. This represents an increased level of turnout compared to the previous PCC election three years ago (19.59%).
