YOUTH FOOTBALL: Boss Dynamo Dyke is proud as Ilminster Giants go down fighting

THE Ilminster Giants Under-12s youth football team can be rightly proud of their efforts despite losing out in their league’s cup final.
The Giants went down 4-1 against Wells Under-12s in the final played yesterday (Saturday, April 30, 2016) at Somerton.
The Ilminster side had opened the scoring, but went in at the half-time break trailing 2-1.
Wells then scored two late goals to seal victory as Ilminster pushed forward in a bid to get back into the game.
But and Ilminster Town FC spokesman said: “The lads played brilliantly against a Wells team which has only last once in the past three years.
“Special mention must go to our goalkeeper Shay Allen who was up all night before the game with sickness, but he still took up his position between the sticks.”
The club would like to thank Ashley Preece and Mark Tobin at the Shrubbery Hotel in Ilminster who helped to lay on refreshments for the team and their supporters after they had returned home from the match.
Team manager Andy Dyke – nicknamed Dynamo by some of his colleagues at Ilminster Town FC – can be rightly proud of the lads’ efforts.
Among those at the game was Terry Hort of team sponsor H&H Accountants.
