ILMINSTER NEWS: Street signs given a clean for the Queen

A SMALL band of Ilminster residents got together over the weekend to support the national Clean for the Queen project as part of Her Majesty’s 90th birthday celebrations.
The group of Ilminster volunteers spent time on March 4-6, 2016, to clean a number of road and street signs in the town.
The main emphasis was on the centre of town. The volunteers armed with buckets of soapy water and sponges cleaned road signs in the market Square, East Street, Silver Street, North Street, West Street, Court Barton, Ditton Street, High Street, Strawberry Bank, Canal Way and Orchard Vale.
Some signage only required a quick wash whereas others needed some elbow grease to shift the mould and grime – such as at Orchard Vale (pictured).
Group co-ordinator John Goodall said: “It was wonderful to see what a small amount of effort put in by volunteers can achieve in helping to brighten up our town.”
