ILMINSTER NEWS: Branch annual meeting for Royal British Legion

THE Ilminster branch of the Royal British Legion will be holding its annual meeting later this month and new members are welcome to attend.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 25, at 7.30pm at Ilminster Bowling Club and there will be the usual business of electing the officers and committee for the 2019-20 year.
If you would like to attend the meeting then please let branch chairman Paul Sainsbury know by September 19 by either calling 01460-259263 or emailing paulsainsbury74@live.co.uk .
The branch will be keen to welcome new members to the group which – not so long ago – was in danger of folding due to a dwindling and ageing membership.
The Royal British Legion is at the heart of a national network that supports our Armed Forces community.
It is the country’s largest Armed Forces charity with 235,000 members, 110,000 volunteers and a network of partners and charities; helping to give support wherever and whenever it is needed for servicemen and women, ex-serving personnel and their families.
The British Legion was formed on May 15, 1921, and brought together four national organisations of ex-servicemen that had established themselves after the First World War – The National Association of Discharged Sailors and Soldiers; the British National Federation of Discharged and Demobilised Sailors and Soldiers; Comrades of the Great War; and The Officers’ Association.
