ILMINSTER NEWS: Drop-in sessions with Canal Way Action Group

PEOPLE will be able to attend drop-in sessions on Saturday (February 3, 2018) for people to find out more about the first stage of Persimmon Homes’ plans to build around 400 homes on land off Canal Way in Ilminster.

The developers were given outline permission at the end of last year by South Somerset District Council to proceed with the project and now they have submitted more detailed proposals for the first part of the development which will see an initial 144 homes built with open space, landscaping, formation of an access and other associated works.

There is expected to be opposition to the proposals once again from local people and more information will be available to them at a drop-in session on Saturday being hosted by the Canal Way Action Group.

The information session is being held at the Market House in the centre of Ilminster from 10am to midday and then at the Archie Gooch Pavilion off Canal Way from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.ILMINSTER NEWS: Drop-in sessions with Canal Way Action Group

People will be able to learn more about the housing designs and materials, layout and density, garages and parking, open green space and the planned emergency access to the development through Herne Vale.

The planning application will also be considered by Ilminster Town Council on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 7.30pm at a meeting held at Greenfylde First School.

The Canal Way Action Group is hoping that objectors to the scheme will send their comments to South Somerset District Council as part of the planning consultation process.

People need to send their comments to the council’s principal planner Andrew Gunn and quote the application number 18/00082/FUL along with their name and address. These can be sent by post to Andrew Gunn, Principal Planner, Development Management, South Somerset District Council, Brympton Way, Yeovil, Somerset BA20 2HT or by email to andrew.gunn@southsomerset.gov.uk .

The closing date for comments has been set for Thursday, February 8, 2018.
