ILMINSTER NEWS: Celebration meal for those that make Christmas special in Ilminster

MEMBERS of the Ilminster Christmas Lights Committee and organisers of the annual Victorian Evening have celebrated another “job well done.”
A tremendous amount of work goes into illuminating Ilminster each year at Christmas and the switching-on ceremony of the lights is one of the key note dates in the town’s calendar.
So it was only right that those responsible for putting on a fabulous show could take time out recently to relax and enjoy a celebratory dinner at the Crown Inn in Ilminster.
The Christmas lights in Ilminster town centre are regarded as some of the best in Somerset and thousands attend the annual Victorian Evening where the switching-on ceremony is the focal point of the festivities.
But the lights display does not happen by itself. A great team of volunteers put in a huge amount of effort to make sure that the town is dazzling for Christmas and it relies heavily on donations from local people.
Over the Christmas period the Ilminster Lions Club presented the Christmas Lights Committee chairman Clinton Bonner with a £623 and thanked him and his team for all their hard work.
