ILMINSTER NEWS: Elaine baldly goes for Brave the Shave in aid of Macmillan

A CLIENT at the Hannah May Hair Studio in Ilminster had an appointment with a difference this week when she underwent the Brave the Shave treatment to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Elaine Thompson had her head shaved for charity after bravely volunteering to help raise funds for the worthwhile cause.
The idea came from Kerry Hole-Stuart, from the hair studio in West Street, after hearing an advert about Brave the Shave on radio.
“I decided to put out an appeal on our Facebook page to see if we could find a volunteer to come forward to do Brave the Shave,” she said. “We were delighted when Elaine came forward.”
It was only then that they found out that Elaine had lost a close family relative to cancer earlier this year – no different to Kerry.
“Both of our relatives who died had experienced very short illnesses which makes it very difficult to come to terms with as family members,” said Kerry. “Macmillan were excellent and so when I heard their advert on radio I decided that we should do something to help.”
A good crowd of supporters went along to the hair studio on Monday (August 7, 2017) to watch the Brave the Shave event and wish Elaine well and further funds were raised from a cake sale and raffle.
So far around £600 has been raised, but money is still being taken to help boost the final total over the next couple of weeks - pop along to Hannah May Hair Studio in West Street, Ilminster, and make your donation. All donations will be gratefully received.
