ILMINSTER NEWS: Money pours in at charity tea parties

MONTHLY charity tea parties at the Archie Gooch Pavilion in Ilminster have been a huge success and have already raised more than £2,000 for different groups and organisations.
The next tea party is being held on Sunday (July 2, 2017) in aid of the town’s Warehouse Theatre and has been given a Mad Hatter theme.
Go along to the Archie Gooch Pavilion at Ilminster Town FC in Britten’s Field off Canal Way from 1pm and enjoy a lovely afternoon of tea, cake and sandwiches.
Among those to benefit from the tea party events are the Scouts, Guides, Memory Café, Baby Basics, Macmillan and Ilminster Majorettes.
Organiser of the monthly tea parties is the well-known Helena Jones and she would like to thank everyone who has supported the events.
“They have been a real big success and it’s great to see so many people enjoy them and we’ve also raised a fab amount of money for various causes,” she said.
“Obviously I wouldn’t be able to do this all on my own and I’d like to thank all those people who have helped me.
“I wouldn’t want to name everyone individually as I run the risk of inadvertently leaving someone out, but you know who you are – huge thank you.”
Fundraising quizzes have also added to the funds raised at the Archie Gooch Pavilion for local groups.
