ILMINSTER AREA NEWS: Wedding dance video family appear on This Morning
THE amazing Martin and Jo Atrill were interviewed on national TV on Friday (March 31, 2017) when they appeared on the This Morning show hosted by Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.
It comes following the whirlwind social media popularity of their “first dance” wedding video in which they were joined by Jo’s 13-year-old son Alex Dieterle to share in the special moment despite him living with severe cerebral palsy and unable to stand unaided.
Stepdad Martin made sure that Alex could play a part in the “first dance” by hand-sewing a special harness for the teenager.
The video has now been viewed over a million times on social media and This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford told the couple, who appeared on the sofa with Alex, said she had “tears in her eyes” when she watched it.
The family, who live in Shepton Beauchamp near Ilminster, said they had been amazed by the response the video had received and thanked everyone for their wonderful comments.
Georgia Longman, who is Alex’s main carer apart from his mum, has set up a fundraising page in a bid to get the family to Disney World.
Around £15,000 is needed for the holiday because of Alex’s need to take carers and equipment.
Jo explained: "We care for Al but he sometimes stops breathing in the middle of the night so needs a carer to give him a prod."
