YOUTH FOOTBALL: Shay and Harvey are doing Ilminster proud

YOUNG Ilminster footballers Harvey Webber and Shay Allen are on the ball as they have now helped their team reach the quarter-finals of a national tournament.
Goalkeeper Shay and midfielder Harvey, both of Ilminster, have been mainstays in the Yeovil and District Under-13s team which has done incredibly well in the national knockout cup competition being run by the English School’s Football Association.
A see-saw game saw Yeovil emerge victorious 4-3 at West Cornwall in their Fourth Round match on January 13, 2017.
Yeovil went 1-0 up from a corner taken by Harvey and they were then pegged back to 1-1 before taking a 2-1 lead only for the pulsating match to reach 3-3.
Shay pulled off a number of great saves to keep Yeovil in the game and then they won it with a thirty-yard screamer.
They will now face another away game in the Quarter-Finals with a trip to Aldershot & Farnborough in a tie which has to be played on or before Saturday, February 4, 2017.
A total of 99 teams entered the competition at the start of the season and now there are just eight left – including Yeovil.
Whatever happens Shay and Harvey, plus their team-mates, can be rightly proud.
The opening round of the competition saw Yeovil romp to a 4-0 success at Poole & East Dorset and that was followed by a 3-2 win at Portsmouth in the Second Round.
Yeovil enjoyed a 3-1 success at home over Southampton in Round Three before last weekend’s success at West Cornwall.
