SOMERSET NEWS: Multiple vehicle crash on M5

EMERGENCY services were called out on Monday (January 2, 2017) morning to deal with reports of a multi-vehicle crash on the M5 between Bridgwater and Highbridge.
The alarm was raised at just after 11am to the problem on the northbound carriageway between Junctions 24-23.
Three fire engines and a special rescue tender from Bridgwater and Taunton were mobilised.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Upon arrival there were found to be a total of nine vehicles involved although none were seriously damaged.
“No airbags had been deployed and no persons were seriously injured or trapped.”
Emergency personnel helped people from their vehicles to a place of safety and cordoned off lanes two and three and then set about making the scene safe.
