SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Shed virtually destroyed in fire

FIREFIGHTERS from Chard, Crewkerne, Martock and Somerton were called out to deal with a shed on fire.
The alarm was raised at just before 4.30pm on Friday (October 28, 2016) to the incident at Pound Cottages in Middle Street, Shepton Beauchamp.
Two fire engines from Martock and Crewkerne were initially mobilised, but once on the scene firefighters asked for support from Chard.
Another fire engine from Somerton was called out when it was realised that the fire involved LPG cylinders which were beginning to vent and fears of an explosion.
Firefighters worked quickly to deal with the situation although the shed – made of concrete and tin – was virtually destroyed in the fire.
“The cause was deemed to be accidental,” said a spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
