SOMERSET NEWS: Official opening for new pool complex

A NEW swimming pool and spa at Taunton will be officially opened on Wednesday (August 24, 2016) by the local Mayor.
The Mayor of Taunton Deane, Cllr Vivienne Stock-Williams, will give the new facilities at Blackbrook her civic seal of approval on Wednesday (August 24, 2016).
The pool has been open to the public since July 30, 2016, but the official ceremony will now take place with a ribbon-cutting and plaque unveiled.
The opening, taking place at 10.30am, will be attended by local dignitaries, supporters, contractors BAM and Tone Leisure that operates the pool on behalf of the council.
Cllr Catherine Herbert, Taunton Deane Borough Council’s executive member for sports, parks and leisure, said: “The new pool and spa are being well used by the public. Like any major project, it's had teething problems but these have been overcome and I am so pleased that we have safely delivered such an amazing facility for Taunton Deane.
“The pool and spa not only provide a great place to relax and unwind, but we also offer swimming lessons and the chance for children in particular to take part in healthy exercise and be confident in the water.”
The complex has a 25-metre, six-lane pool plus a 13-metre learners' pool. The Spa Experience offers a range of luxurious treatments, while the Café Corner has a range of refreshments plus free wi-fi.
