CRICKET: Great night for Ilminster CC

PERFECT weather ensured a large crowd turned out for an Open Evening with Ilminster Cricket Club.
Lots of players and supporters converged on the club this evening (Friday, July 9, 2016) at Ilminster Recreation Ground to help promote cricket as part of a national initiative spearheaded by the ECB and supported by Waitrose.
There was Pimms and Prosecco for the adults, while there was a bouncy castle for the children.
Refreshments were aplenty, while there was also competitive cricket action as well with Ilminster Under-19s beating their Queen Camel counterparts in the national T20 competition.
During the interval of the cricket there was a fun “mascot” race with a junior-sized duck beating an adult-sized wolf – better known as Ilminster CC first-team skipper Sam Spurway.

The duck played his part during the match as accompanied departing batsmen away from the wicket.
There was a great atmosphere at the club, helped by some great tunes being blared out by a DJ.
Organisers would like to thank everyone for attending and making it such a great night for Ilminster CC.
Among those in the crowd were the Mayor of the Ilminster, Cllr Val Keitch, while Ilminster Press photographer Christine Jones was on hand to grab some photos.
The club would especially like to thank Under-19s sponsor Harper Dolman & West Insurance for their support.
