FOOTBALL: New Ilminster Town FC first team boss looking forward to 2016-17 season

THE new manager of Ilminster Town’s first team is hoping to win promotion back to the Premier Division of the Somerset County League.
Jason Manley is very much looking forward to the start of the 2016-17 campaign with the club having moved to its new headquarters – The Archie Gooch Pavilion – at Britten’s Field.
“The committee at Ilminster Town Football Club have done a fantastic job and finally all their years of hard work have come to fruition,” he said.
“I am very pleased that most of last season’s squad are staying, over the summer I have looked to improve in areas where it is needed, so hopefully we will see a few new faces at the first training session.
“The intention is to get promoted in what is looking to be a very tough league. Create more chances and score more goals than we did last year.”
First team training starts on Tuesday (July 5, 2016) at 6.30pm where players will meet at the old ground on the adjoining Ilminster Recreation Ground with the new one still a week away from being completed.
Manley added: “There will be three hard sessions before our first friendly on July 26 away at Bridport. We will then bang in five friendlies before our first league match on August 13.
Friendly fixtures: July 26 – Bridport (A); July 28 – Lyme Regis (H); August 2 – Axminster Town (A); August 4 – Perry Street (H); August 9 – Westland Sports (A).
