ILMINSTER NEWS: New Mayor looks forward to shaping the future of the town

THE new Mayor of Ilminster, Cllr Val Keitch, has said it will be an “honour and privilege” to represent the town.
Cllr Keitch was elected as Mayor during Tuesday’s (May 17, 2016) annual meeting of Ilminster Town Council.
“I am delighted to be elected as Mayor of Ilminster,” she told Ilminster Press. “It is an honour and privilege to serve the town where my roots go back so many years.
“My parents lived here for years and my grandmother was a shirt factory worker here over 100 years ago – I wonder what she would say now?”
The Mayor added: “I will continue to serve all the people of Ilminster and look forward to working with community groups and helping to shape the future of the town.”
Cllr Keitch was unanimously voted in by her fellow councillors following the resignation from the council of Rose Neave, who had served as Mayor from 2015-16.
Cllr Tony Walker will continue in his role as Deputy Mayor for the forthcoming year.
