POLICE have charged two men in connection with the murder of Wilfred Isaacs in Ilton.
Charlie Broadway, 23, and William (Billy) Broadway, 18, from Ilton, have been jointly charged with murder, attempted murder and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Both have been remanded in custody and are due before Yeovil Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday, May 9, 2016) morning.
The remaining five people arrested in connection with this incident – which happened on the evening of Thursday, May 5, 2016, remain in custody at this time.
Det Supt Andy Bevan said: “This has been a fast-paced and wide-ranging investigation and I would like to again thank the local communities affected for their patience and support.
“We will continue to have a visible police presence at Chubbards Cross caravan site as this ongoing, complex investigation continues.
“A vast amount of work is still taking place at the scene of the shooting as our meticulous forensic examination develops. We anticipate this site will remain closed for the next few days as these enquiries progress.
“Our thoughts remain with Wilfred’s family and specially trained Family Liaison Officers continue to support them through this difficult time.
“We are continuing to look for the murder weapon, which we believe is a shotgun. I would repeat our appeal for anyone with information as to the whereabouts of this gun to call us immediately.”
If you know where this weapon is, please call 999 and quote log 1051 of May 5.
If you don’t want to speak to police, please call the independent charity Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111. They don’t record calls or ask for your name. You can also do this via crimestoppers-uk.com.
